Volunteering at Vision Australia

Consultation has concluded

Vision Australia has been looking at how we can support our volunteers to experience a deep sense of achievement and satisfaction in their work with us and our clients. It is important for us to understand how our volunteers view their roles and what types of contributions they would like to make in the future. The needs and ideas our volunteers have shared with us will inform our Volunteer Workforce Strategy.

We’d like to thank everyone who participated in our Volunteering at Vision Australia co-design process during February and March 2018.

Some of you met with us by phone for a focus group. Some joined us to provide feedback on example web pages. And, over 100 of our wonderful volunteers responded to our survey. Every idea and piece of feedback counts and we thank you for sharing yours.

You let us know you want:

  • a progressive volunteer culture where conversations happen in a context of organisational goals and values, and where you can connect to other volunteers doing the same role to share tips
  • to be matched to roles based not only on your skills and experience but what you are interested in and how you prefer to work
  • notification about local and national opportunities so you can put your hand up to join in
  • access to systems and a hub containing practical tools to help you do your job
  • more information about the work you’ve done and how it’s contributed to the larger work of your team and the organisation
  • ways to get clear on what’s coming up for you and the team and to share your availability
  • additional communication channels to give and receive information in support of clients and listeners, and to make requests and suggest improvements

You’ll start to see changes at Vision Australia in these areas over the next 18 months.

Thanks again for spending time with us, letting us know your thoughts and helping us to build the future of volunteering at Vision Australia.
